About

The award-winning Quartetto Adorno present Castelnuovo-Tedesco's complete works for string quartet. He began composing chamber music during the 1920s, and these works date from 1929, 1948 and 1964 respectively. Quartets Nos. 1 and 2 are world premiere recordings. This is a major addition to the comprehensive catalogue of Castelnuovo-Tedesco albums on Naxos.

Critic reviews

  • “This is the chamber music discovery of the year. …serious but eminently approachable, quasi-programmatic, charming, melodic, colourful…”

ClassicsToday.com, Keep on listening award, January 2025

  • “In each case the Quartetto Adorno makes the most of the music’s tuneful glow and wide range of colours and textures, with Benedetta Bucci’s viola often relishing the spotlight… The Italian players pitch in, however, as though everything they play is solid gold.”

BBC Music Magazine, 4 stars, August 2024
