William F. Santelmann (1902-84), USMC (Ret.), was 21st Leader/Director of the USMB, serving from 1940-55. His musical training began at age six with his father, then-Director of the Marine Band Captain William H. Santelmann. He was accepted into the Marine Band in 1923. Klavier presents a commemorative disc of recordings featuring this noted mid-20th c. USMB Band Director. (Klavier)
