Based on a story by acclaimed author Haruki Murakami, the author of DRIVE MY CAR and NORWEGIAN WOOD and featuring soundtrack by Academy Award Winner - Ryuichi Sakamoto. Tony Takitani is an illustrator who has been alone all his life, until he meets a beautiful woman who transforms his world. THAT'LL FLAT GIT IT! VOL. 41: ROCKABILLY / VARIOUS THAT'LL FLAT GIT IT! VOL. 41: ROCKABILLY / VARIOUS That'll Flat Git It! Vol. 41: Rockabilly & Rock 'n' Roll From The Vaults Of Dot & Hamilton-The 41th installment in our popular CD series 'That'll Flat Git It!' featuring selections from the R'n'R and rockabilly catalogs of U.S. record labels is dedicated to Dot Records, a company otherwise known for pop covers of R&B hits. -For Bear Family Records, Nico Feuerbach has selected an incredible 37 titles! -Well-known names like Leroy Van Dyke, Sanford Clark or Robin Luke share the job with lesser-known peers like Prentis Slade, Billy Joe Tucker, Ned Costner, a.m.o. -Extensive liner notes in the comprehensive illustrated booklet and meticulous mastering from the best accessible sources round out this release. -Another highlight in this far from finished series and a recommendation for all R'n'R and Rockabilly fans! Although the label tends to be best-known for it's pop covers of '50s R&B hits, Randy Wood's Dot Records with it's subsidiary Hamilton Records also issued more than it's share of legitimate rockabilly and rock and roll. Bear Family Records' latest entry in it's 'That'll Flat Git It!' series salutes that side of the company's voluminous release slate, bringing together no less than 37 selections by a vast array of artists both well-known (Leroy Van Dyke, Jim Lowe, Sanford Clark, Jimmy Newman, Robin Luke) and demonstrably obscure (Prentis Slade, Billy Joe Tucker, Ned Costner, Keith Courvale, Tommy Danton & The Echoes), each one a winner. The Nighthawks' original When Sin Stops, Mac Wiseman's Hey, Mr. Blues Man, raspy-voiced Jimmy Dee and The Offbeats' Don't Cry No More and Here I Come, Tom Blair & The West Coasters' Rock It, and Sonny Curtis' A Pretty Girl underscore the wide-ranging artist roster that Dot amassed (the label commenced operations in Gallatin, Tennessee before relocating to Hollywood in 1957). Veteran pop crooner Snooky Lanson proves he could rock on Stop (Let Me Off The Bus), and latter-day TV evangelist Ken Copeland's seriously overheated cover of Where The Rio de Rosa Flows has to be heard to be believed! 4000127176608 BFY17660.2 43341276 13.82 20.99 .21 BEAR FAMILY COMPACT DISCS POP V/A COMPILATIONS ROCK 04/28/2023 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/10/4187410-2962070.jpg 2 1 N
TANGERINE DREAM CATCH ME IF YOU CAN BSX Records presents the soundtrack release of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, featuring music composed by Tangerine Dream (SORCERER, THIEF, RISKY BUSINESS) for the 1989 action comedy written and directed by Stephen Sommers (DEEP RISING, THE MUMMY, VAN HELSING), starring Matt Lattanzi, Loryn Locklin, Grant Heslov, Billy Morrissette, Geoffrey Lewis and M. Emmet Walsh. Shot in writer / director Stephen Sommers' home town of St. Cloud, MN and released in 1989 CATCH ME IF YOU CAN follows the students of Cathedral High and their efforts to save their school from being shut down because of a lack of funding. If good girl Melissa (Locklin) can raise $200,000, the school board will match them for the rest. Melissa enlists Dylan (Lattanzi), the resident bad boy to help her meet her goal. Instead of serving out his detention, Dylan is sentenced to use his driving skills to help Melissa raise the money. The music for CATCH ME IF YOU CAN was composed by the pioneering German electronica band Tangerine Dream. Founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream is a ground-breaking musical act that veered away from the influence of traditional Anglo-American rock/pop and instead relied upon hypnotic rhythms, sustained drones, musique concrte, tape-music looping techniques, and the proliferation of early synthesizers. Throughout their seven-decade existence (which continues to this day) the band has released over eighty-five studio, extended play, or mini albums, fifty-two motion picture scores, and a handful of episodic television or video game scores. 712187491532 BSXR9153.2 43341122 10.52 15.99 .18 BSX RECORDS INC COMPACT DISCS POP SOUNDTRACKS & FILM SCORES 04/07/2023 https://mediacdn.aent-m.com/prod-img/500/13/4187413-2953660.jpg 1 1 N
ELLINGTON,DUKE ALL THE HITS AND MORE 1927-54 DUKE ELLINGTON - ALL THE HITS AND MORE 1927-54 - It's a comprehensive overview of his most successful output during a primary era of his career Duke Ellington was one of the most important and influential figures in the entire history of jazz, as pianist, bandleader, composer and innovator, his career spanning half century as the genre evolved from the early days of electric recording. However, while critics and commentators focus on his over-arching significance as a giant of the medium, it's easy to forget that he was a genius at composing tune and songs for the medium of the 3-minute 78rpm single, and during the first three decades of his career before rock 'n' roll changed the pop landscape irrevocably, he had more than 70 records that were credited as chart hits. This great-value 4-CD set comprised all those 77 recordings which are listed in recognised sources as hits, plus another 20 or so which are regarded as significant compositions which became standards, or were hits for other artists. It includes his No. 1s with Three Little Words", "Cocktails For Two", "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart", and the Billboard R&B No. 1s "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", "Sentimental Lady", "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me" and "Main Stem", along with classics like "Mood Indigo", "Sophisticated Lady", "Moon Glow", "Solitude", "Caravan", "Take The 'A' Train" and "I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good". It's a comprehensive overview of his most successful output during a primary era of his career, and a great showcase for the artistry which made the Duke such a revered and iconic personality.
